Compliance and Protocol

Works which involve public money in such an overt way will frequently require an additional layer of control and reporting. This to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and also to ensure value for money. We are well used to such protocol and will adhere to your standards and systems.

Central Government

Joe managed archaeological works on several high security projects on sites within the City of Westminster, this while at Archaeology Collective. All security protocols were followed and the projects were handled in a timely way in line with agreed budgets. The results have been fed into the research agenda for this highly sensitive archaeological area (which is also sensitive for security reasons).  Such projects require impeccable attention to timescales and security protocol. Archaeological works need to fit within tight timescales and we are proud of our delivery on such schemes.

Local Government

Other examples include Cemetery extensions such as that needed in Bedford at Norse Road. While at Albion, Joe managed works for Bedford Borough Council who had purchased an area of land c. 8ha in size, located between Bushy Close Spinney and a bridleway that runs along the north side of Norse Road Cemetery, Norse Road, Bedford. The former agricultural land will be converted into an extension to the existing cemetery.

Based on the results of an earlier evaluation, it was anticipated that the development area would produce evidence for Roman, medieval and post-medieval activity. Roman remains were identified and are likely to have been associated with field systems. However, they made up a relatively small proportion of the archaeological remains in that area. The vast majority of significant remains dated to the late Saxon/Saxo-Norman period and represent the remains of pit-digging. The results are written up at the link below and the archaeological remains were cleared and recorded to enable the cemetery extension in line with the Condition. https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archiveDS/archiveDownload?t=arch-690-1/dissemination/pdf/albionar1-74735_1.pdf.
